Privacy
This site uses analytics via Vercel Web Analytics. Details below. This page is generated from what the site actually does, not copied from a template, which is why it is shorter than most. If the site starts collecting something, this page changes in the same commit. Last reviewed 2026-08-25.

What the analytics sees
This site counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies: instead of storing an identifier on your device, the provider derives one by hashing the incoming request, and discards it after 24 hours. It cannot follow you to another site, and neither can we.
Each page view records:
- the page you looked at, and the dynamic route behind it
- the page you came from, and any campaign parameters in the address
- your country, region and city — never a street address
- your device type, operating system and browser, with versions
- the timestamp of the visit
It also records five things you can do here — using the calculator, entering a ZIP code, opening a source, opening the dataset table and opening a question — so that we can tell whether the calculator is used or merely seen. The ZIP code itself is never sent, only whether it matched an area. It never leaves your browser, as the next section explains.
Taken from Vercel Web Analytics — Privacy and Compliance, read 2026-08-25. If that page changes, this one changes with it.
The ZIP code you type
It never leaves your browser. The calculator downloads a small static lookup file and resolves the ZIP code locally, so we never see it, never store it and could not link it to you if we wanted to.
Hosting
The site is served by a hosting provider that, like every web server, processes the IP address of incoming requests in order to deliver the page and to protect against abuse. We do not have access to that data as an identifiable record and we do not use it for anything.
Your rights
Under California’s CCPA and CPRA, and under the GDPR if you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you, and to object to its sale or sharing. In practice there is nothing to exercise them against, because we hold no personal data about you. If that changes, this page will say so before it happens.
We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have.
Changes to this policy
This page is rendered from a configuration file in the site’s source code, so it cannot drift out of date without the code changing too. Substantive changes are recorded in the change log.
