How this site intends to make money
Eventually through affiliate relationships and contractor referrals, which is the normal model for this kind of site. We would rather say so plainly now, while nothing is monetised, than have you discover it later.
The rule that protects the numbers
No commercial relationship will ever change a figure a calculator produces. The cost model is built from published wage data, published equipment rates and published code, and the calculation is documented line by line on the method page so that anyone can check it. A site whose numbers bend towards whoever pays it is worth nothing to the person reading it, and would be worth nothing to advertisers either once anyone noticed.
FTC disclosure
US Federal Trade Commission guidance requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections between a publisher and the products it recommends. When this site has any such connection, the disclosure will appear on the page itself, above or beside the link, not buried in a footer.
